Crested Gecko Collection
Lavender/Black PinstripeThis project is easily my largest, most refined and most genetically and aesthetically diverse.· What started in 2002 as a simple dark pinstripe project, where the goal was simply to produce full pinstripes, has evolved into over a dozen different sub-projects, made up of over 40 different breeding groups.· The sub-projects usually involve a certain type of pattern and/or color combination.· Everything from nearly solid cream dorsal patterns to the Halloween pinstripes which are black in color with orange dorsal and harlequin patterning. These geckos generally sport white fringe on the hind legs, shins and even their feet. We've also noticed some of our more extreme examples tend to have long white scales protruding from the white pattern on their sides. Another place we're starting to see white fringe is in the form of a single dot, maybe 1-1.5mm in diameter, on the middle of their hind legs. I think as time goes on, we'll see that breeders will continue to produce geckos each generation that are more intriquately patterned than the next. Color and pattern aside, I made it a point early on to select geckos with wide, blocky heads and heavy overall body structure. |
